The Learn to Skate program is offered throughout the year. There are five separate sessions, each running from 8–10 weeks. The skating year is September 1 – August 31 of the following year.

The Basic Skills program offered at the Iorio Arena is a beginners ice skating program available to all ages. There are five varieties of skating classes, each with its own focus.

Be Prepared
All skaters are required to wear a helmet (either a hockey or bike helmet) and warm clothing such as mittens, water repellant pants, and a jacket. Skaters must also have their own pair of ice skates (figure or hockey only – no double runners).

Current Programs

Kids

This program provides the child with a 25 minute lesson from one of our skating instructors as well as 25 minutes of practice skating time in which the child can work on their individual skating skills.

The class sizes range from 6-10 children per class. The skater will develop various skating skills and at the end of the session they will be tested on that level.

Please Note:
All skaters must be 4 yrs old by December 1, 2007. Children registered in the program will be the only ones allowed on the ice.

Adults

This program is designed for recreational adult skaters interested in improving their skating skills. The program promotes physical fitness and improves balance and coordination while learning proper skating techniques. There will be a 25 minute group lesson with one of our instructors, followed by 25 minutes of practice time.

Please Note:
Adult programs will only be offered at 10am during the Winter and Spring sessions.

Tots

This program is available to children ages 4-6. The class sizes are typically smaller in the tots program, allowing for more one on one time for the skater. The class consists of a 25 minute lesson from one of our instructors, followed by 25 minutes of practice time.

Please Note:
Parents are only allowed on the ice after their tots lesson. This is the only program where parents can skate with their tot.

Private Lessons

Private Lessons are available for levels Basic 6 / Delta and higher on Wednesday Afternoons from 4:10pm - 5:00pm or during the morning 11am-12:20pm.
